March 30, 2006—KETV reports that this spring and summer,Papillion Creek Watershed flood control will progressalong the metro area’s West Branch Papio Creek in Sarpy County. March 13, 2006—KETV reports that more flood control reservoirs are needed in the Papillion Creek Watershed. The 402-square-mile Papillion Creek Watershed is home to about 25 percent of Nebraska’s residents and is facing rapid urbanization of agricultural lands. September 10, 2005—The Omaha World Herald reports that the University of Nebraska is taking formal steps toward acquiring 71 acres of land south of Center Street The area lies across Center Street from the former Ak-Sar-Ben.
